I just learnt about a Japanese style/culture trend that originated in the 90s called Ganguro.
In ganguro fashion, a deep tan is combined with hair dyed in shades of orange to blonde, or a silver grey known as “high bleached”. Black ink is used as eye-liner and white concealer is used as lipstick and eyeshadow. False eyelashes, plastic facial gems, and pearl powder are often added to this. Platform shoes and brightly-coloured outfits complete the ganguro look. Also typical of ganguro fashion are tie-dyedsarongs, miniskirts, stickers on the face, and many bracelets, rings, and necklaces.
I just found this website when looking up a family member online. It is a pay-for service that also offers an amount of free information.
When I have a little more time (!!) and am back in South Africa with my family I plan to pay for a membership and spend some time capturing everything I know about our family. At least that way the information will be up somewhere.
